our chief fitlosopher has made her love of both chocolate and wine no big secret. and this time of year, between holiday parties and cozy nights by the fire, there’s ample opportunity for enjoying both. so when we heard about this year’s (literally) hottest holiday cocktail - a magical merging of creamy hot chocolate and bold red wine - we knew we had to partake with our own fitlosophized version. and since dark chocolate and red wine are both packed with free-radical-crushing flavonoid antioxidants, it’s practically health food. and that’s the story we’re stickin’ with! behold: our fitlosophized red wine hot chocolate!
[fitlosophized red wine hot chocolate]
makes 1 serving
¾ cup unsweetened almond milk
⅓ cup red wine (see our top picks)
¼ cup chopped dark chocolate
1 tsp vanilla extract
maple syrup (optional)
combine everything in a small saucepan over medium heat, stirring often, until chocolate is fully melted. pour into a cute lil mug (we’re partial to our brand new happy hour beauty) + top as desired.
